Calpe Costa Blanca
CalpeIts impossible not to enjoy, a quaint old town, an active archaeology site, top blue flag beaches and a breathtaking landscape. Filled with folklore, good food, and excellent wine, Calpe manages that infrequent balance of a centuries-old past with the demands of latter-day tourism.
Calpethe most outstanding representation of Calpe is Penon de Ifach, a Gibraltar like huge rock jutting out and creating a peninsula. Penon splits the six-mile stretch of Calpe's coastline into two well-formed beaches; Levante (or La Fossa) and Arenal-Bol, both containing fine white sand and all facilities.
Calpe declared by the Spanish government as a nature reserve, which in Spain is a protected area, the rock towers 1,088 feet above the sea, and the views from the summit are spectacular. There are stairs and it is easy to follow, even for children. Information posts along your route will inform you about a plant or an overlook view.
Apart from this, Calpe has many more things to offer.
Calpe day cruises to nearby villages along the coast including Benidorm, are an option during your stay in Calpe. Stop by the docks upon your return, when the fishing boats arrive every afternoon, bringing about an exciting fish auction.
Calpe if you enjoy exploring on foot, there are many challenging walks, hikes, and climbs in the surrounding mountains, good to indulge in during the cooler weather. Even walking the long wide lane footpath on the waterfront, history hits you in the face where you can easily locate Roman ruins, the ruins of the Bano de la Reina and the Torreon de la Peca. Excavation continues within this area and new findings grow each year.
