Situated half way between Alicante and Valencia, Denia can boast being the only town along the Costa Blanca that has a drive in cinema. The first run movies may be in Spanish, but the atmosphere is totally nostalgic and makes for an interesting and somewhat different experience.
.
But aside from going to the movies, Denia is bestowed with 20 km's of sandy beaches, a National Park known as Mount Montgo, its own castle and a train that runs all along the coast to Alicante, thus making it a great holiday location for both singles and families alike.

The popular beaches of Punta del Raset, Les Bobetes and La Marineta Casiana, all offer full services including parking, shade, shower rooms, toilets, chairs and Red Cross service. These three also include easy access facilities for the handicapped with built in footbridges.

Some of the best enclaves for scuba diving are in the waters surrounding Denia and an excursion can easily be easily arranged to view the coral reef.

On a clear day you certainly see forever, from the surrounding Mount Montgo, which is 2500 feet above sea level. You may even see the Isle of Ibiza located 100 km away over the Mediterranean. Even if you do not venture to climb up all the way to the summit, the views are spectacular offering the entire coast line among the green valleys laden with orange, almond and lemon groves.

Denia obtain its name from a Roman temple to Diana. Visitors and holiday makers relish in what it offers but it is also a working town. Fishing boats line the harbour while they march the beat of a daily lifestyle as they head out to sea. Upon their return brings the best of the sea to the table, making the celebrated cuisines of Eastern Spain a haven to consume in. It is the nearest continental point to the Balearic Islands and very easy to head to them via a high speed ferry right from port.

The old section of the pueblo is located near the port and includes colourful streets lined with white wash or terracotta coloured buildings. The area is green with trees, which make pleasant shade during warm summer days and sit in one of the trendy bars along your route to watch the world go by.

Within the original city cover some of the several points of interest not to be missed.

Castle of Denia
Set up high on a sloping hill, Mount Denia has beautiful gardens and is located near the port. You can relax in the Gardens above the town and have a drink and/or a snack. The castle has become a symbolic heritage site although new finds seem to happen each day by the number digs located outside its grounds. Even upon your descend you will notice a great number of preservation and restoration works being carried out.
